The structure of the D.H.E.A. Special Needs Information Service:

The D.H.E.A. Special Needs Information Service has a massive core of information which has been gathered together in an easily accessed Library of Resources.  The aphabetical Library Indexes bring together information about available Resources, Suppliers, Conditions and Organisations.  The many ways in which special needs can be met are covered by Focus articles on special needs topics with hundreds of information pages all linked to the Library Indexes.

We will keep you up to date with developments in special needs through our News Pages.  The Events Diary gives you details of conferences, exhibitions, courses and meetings about special needs.   From time to time we will be looking more closely at one topic in a series of Focus articles.

Finding your way round the D.H.E.A. Special Needs Information Service:

As you are reading articles you will be able to select highlighted references which take you to more information on that topic.  Selecting the 'back' icon will return you to the original page.  For example clicking on the word "Apple Macintosh" will take you to information on produccts and devices for Apple Macintosh.

You can also return to the D.H.E.A. Information Service Online 'front page' by clicking on "Special Needs Home Page" on the right hand side where ever you are in our site.  We have tried to make navigating the D.H.E.A. Special Needs Information Service as easy as possible but if you are lost you can always get back to the home page.

We have a section which explains the present format of the DfEE's Code of Practice.  In the IT section you can find out about software and specialist technology, such as electronic communication aids, that will support learners with particular special needs.

If you don't find what you want

A helpful feature of the D.H.E.A. Special Needs Information Service is our e-mail enquiry service through which you can ask about information you couldn't find or which we havn't yet included in the D.H.E.A. Special Needs Information Service. Just click and send a message to the D.H.E.A. Special Needs Information Service.

Feedback

The D.H.E.A. Special Needs Information Service is here to serve you so please tell us what you want.  If you look for something and can't find it please let us know what is missing! If you want to know more about something it's very likely many others will find the information useful too.  We will do some research and try to add the information to the D.H.E.A. Special Needs Information Service as soon as possible.

The Future

We want you to keep coming back to the D.H.E.A. Special Needs Information Service pages to find out what's new in the field of special needs.  When you have a question to answer we want you to look in the D.H.E.A. Special Needs Information Service for the information you need.  We will constantly add pages to the D.H.E.A. Special Needs Information Service as we up-date and expand our service.
